NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia Endorses Delegate Alfonso Lopez
Cites Lopez’s steadfast commitment to protecting reproductive choice
ARLINGTON - NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia has endorsed Delegate Alfonso Lopez (D-Arlington) in his re-election campaign for the 49th District of the House of Delegates. NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia is an independent affiliate of the national NARAL Pro-Choice America organization and works at the state level to fight for rights and access to abortion, birth control and sex education; support the full range of reproductive decisions; and protect reproductive health for all Virginians regardless of race, income, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
“Throughout his entire career as a member of the House of Delegates, Delegate Lopez has been a staunch supporter of our mission,” said Tarina Keene, the Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia. “We need more dedicated lawmakers like Delegate Lopez in Richmond who will stand up for reproductive freedom and a woman’s right to choose. We look forward to continuing our work with him to expand women’s health options and reproductive rights throughout the Commonwealth.”
“I am honored to be endorsed again by NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, which is a fantastic organization that does great advocacy work down in Richmond,” said Delegate Lopez. “They have been instrumental in fighting the ugly, anti-choice legislation that just a few years ago made Virginia a national laughing stock as well as rolling back the state TRAP regulations. I look forward to continuing our work to protect reproductive choice in Virginia.”
Delegate Lopez has earned a perfect score for his voting record from NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia for four years in a row - his entire tenure as a member of the House of Delegates. He was also endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia in 2011 and 2013.

Delegate Lopez is currently serving his second term representing Virginia’s 49th District in the House of Delegates, which includes parts of South Arlington and Eastern Fairfax County. He is a member of the House Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources Committee; Science & Technology Committee; and Militia, Police, and Public Safety Committee as well as the Virginia Small Business Commission and the Virginia Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation.
