In the News: Lopez Wants Unemployment Rules Amended to Benefit Entrepreneurs

Del. Alfonso Lopez is hoping fellow members of the General Assembly will embrace his call to help entrepreneurs.
Lopez (D-49th) has introduced legislation that would allow those who are laid off to collect unemployment benefits without looking for work – if they spend their time starting a business.
The idea has “already proven successful in several other states,” said Lopez, who says federal grant funding to the tune of $670,000 awaits state coffers if the legislature approves the idea.
