The Virginia Partisans PAC Endorses Alfonso Lopez
Cites Lopez's History of Work for the LGBT Community
Today, the Virginia Partisans PAC, the PAC of the LGBT Democrats of Virginia, endorsed of Alfonso Lopez for House of Delegates. The Virginia Partisans was founded more than 20 years ago as a voice for gay Democrats in Northern Virginia. Today, the Virginia Partisans PAC is a statewide Political Action Committee affiliated with LGBT Democrats of Virginia.
“We would like to thank Alfonso Lopez for his work on the Democratic Party of Virginia’s Steering Committee to help the LGBT caucus get a seat at the Steering Committee table,” said Terry Mansberger, Immediate Past President of the Virginia Partisans.
“If it were not for the tireless work by Alfonso Lopez the LBGT Caucus may not have been approved by the Democratic Party of Virginia’s State Central Committee in 2010,” said Charley Conrad, former President of the Virginia Partisans and former Chairman of the LGBT Caucus of the Democratic Party of Virginia. “Alfonso supports repeal of the Marshall-Newman Amendment and will fight for marriage equality in Virginia. He is our kind of candidate. Please join me in supporting Alfonso Lopez on August 23rd.”
The Virginia Partisans join leaders in the LGBT community in supporting Lopez, including: Charley Conrad and Arlington County Board Member Jay Fisette (who in 1997 became Virginia’s first openly-gay elected official).
“I have been a consistent supporter of LGBT rights in the past and, if elected, I will be a reliable progressive voice leading the fight for equality in Virginia,” said Lopez. “I am honored to be endorsed by the Virginia Partisans. I will never stop working towards complete equality for our LGBT brothers and sisters.”
Alfonso Lopez is a candidate for Virginia House of Delegates in the 49th District. With nearly 20 years of legislative experience at the highest levels in federal and state government and a record of achievement in our community, Lopez has dedicated his life to public service and Virginia.
