Virginia AFL-CIO Endorses Alfonso Lopez - Cites Lopez’s Experience and Commitment to Social and Economic Justice

The Virginia Chapter of the AFL-CIO endorses Alfonso Lopez for the 49^th District of the Virginia House of Delegates.  The Virginia AFL-CIO monitors all legislation affecting the working people of Virginia in order to keep the state's labor standards on a progressive track.

 “Alfonso Lopez has worked tirelessly for economic and social justice throughout his career and as a member of the board of the Shirlington Education and Employment Center” said Doris Crouse-Mays, the President of the Virginia AFL-CIO.  “His passion and experience will make him an effective advocate for working families in Richmond.”

The Virginia AFL-CIO supports stronger worker's compensation laws; increased fines for workplace safety violations; civil rights and equal rights; and legislation requiring local governments to offer health care to retirees.

“The Virginia AFL-CIO is a leading advocate for workers’ rights and social justice throughout Virginia and I am honored to have received their endorsement” said Lopez. “I look forward to working with them in Richmond to support the working families of Virginia.”   

 Alfonso Lopez is a candidate for Virginia House of Delegates in the 49^th District. With nearly 20 years of legislative experience at the highest levels in federal and state government and a record of achievement in our community, Lopez has dedicated his life to public service and Virginia.
