Virginia Education Association Endorses the Re-election of Delegate Lopez
Cites Lopez’s steadfast commitment to teachers and public education
ARLINGTON – The Virginia Education Association (VEA) has endorsed the re-election of Delegate Alfonso Lopez (D-Arlington). The VEA is a statewide organization representing more than 50,000 teachers and school support professionals. For over 50 years, the VEA has worked for the betterment of public education in Virginia.
“Delegate Lopez has been a tireless advocate for teachers and education support professionals in the General Assembly,” said Meg Gruber, president of the Virginia Education Association. “We look forward to continuing our work with him to improve public education throughout the Commonwealth for many years to come.”
“I’m honored to be endorsed by the Virginia Education Association,” said Delegate Lopez. “The VEA’s work in Richmond is critical to strengthening our public education system and ensuring that the next generation of Virginians is prepared to compete in the new Virginia economy.”
Over the past four years, Delegate Lopez has earned a perfect score for his voting record from the Virginia Education Association. In 2012, he was named the Virginia Education Association’s Rookie of the Year.
