Lopez Statement on Passage of the 2014-2016 Biennial Budget
RICHMOND – Delegate Lopez (D-Arlington) released the following statement on the passage of the 2014-2016 Biennial Budget by the Virginia General Assembly:
I am deeply disappointed with the budget passed by the General Assembly today. In addition to turning away billions of dollars in federal funding to expand health care coverage to 400,000 hard working, low-income uninsured Virginians, this budget makes drastic cuts to core services such as affordable housing, public education, first responders, and higher education. I could not in good conscience vote for a budget that so drastically deviates from the values and priorities of my district.
