Fisette Endorses Lopez in House of Delegates Race

County Board member Jay Fisette has endorsed the candidacy of Alfonso Lopez in the 49th House of Delegates race.

Lopez “has the experience and insight necessary to be an effective advocate for Arlington and our values in Richmond,” said Fisette, who initially planned to stay neutral in the primary race between Lopez and Stephanie Dix Clifford.

The winner of the Aug. 23 Lopez-Clifford Democratic primary is likely to be unopposed in the general election.

Lopez also has been endorsed by County Board Chairman Chris Zimmerman, state Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, former Del. Karen Darner and Sheriff Beth Arthur.

The 49th District seat currently is held by Adam Ebbin, who is running for state Senate. The redrawn 49th District includes portions of Arlington south of Columbia Pike and parts of neighboring Fairfax County.
